After wearing surgical gown you are seated in a comfortable surgical chair which is designed for hair transplant. It is covered by disposable and hygienic material.
During the operation all your vital signs are observed and the doctor adjusts the medication levels continuously regarding your comfort.
Your donor area is carefully marked by the surgeon after examining the area. Before doing that, the surgeon goes through your file and checklist to make sure the hair transplant is operated safely.
During punching; donor limitations, graft preservation and homogenization are carefully considered. The donor area is left without bandage after the grafts are extracted.
The number of follicular units extracted in a day ranges from 2000 to 3000. Since each unit has 2-3 hairs, this amounts to 5000 to 7000 hairs. Every patient is different, therefore this number varies, according to the density of the donor zone.
The needles or chiesel blades are used for incisions. The depth of the incision is no longer than the follicular unit length, therefore avoiding the injury of the blood vessels present in the scalp.
Transplanted hairs growth direction will be similar to the natural hairs by applying natural incisions.
The follicular units are then transplanted one by one in the bald recipient zone. The direction, angle and density distribution patterns of the existing area are taken into consideration.
Even if there is no terminal hair in the recipient zone, there are always some vellus (hair which is short, thin, slightly-colored, and barely noticeable) hairs that can give a hint of how it used to be in the past.
