Hair Transplant Experience in Istanbul with Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu
My hair transplantation with Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu in Turkey / Istanbul – VERY SATISFIED
Just as you are reading this article right now and are looking for experiences with hair transplantation or a specific doctor like Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu, I too have been searching the internet for a long time. Where do you start when you no longer suffer from thinning hair and want to find out about the possibilities of hair transplantation though? One enters search terms like “hair transplantation in Turkey” or “Dr. Sahinoglu experiences” and hopes to come across authentic reports. For this reason, in order to help others to choose a method and a trustworthy and professional doctor, I would like to share my experiences with Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu in the following. I hope that my report will help you make the right decision.
Choosing the Right Method
There are different ways to get more hair, but not all ways lead to Rome, as is well known. Before I seriously considered the subject of hair transplantation, I, like many others, naturally tried hair restorers and medicines first. They did not lead to the desired result. In my circle of friends and acquaintances, some of them have already decided to have a hair transplant before me. The results were all very different and had only one thing in common: they were very expensive.

Why I decided Against the FUT-Technique
Almost all my friends decided for the FUT-technique, which is even cheaper. Only a few years ago it was a revolution in transplantation technology. A strip of scalp including hair roots is transplanted from another area of the head. As anyone can imagine, this results in a scar. The advantage is that this surgical technique is less complex and therefore also correspondingly cheaper than the FUE technique, which I would like to explain in the following.
With this relatively new method, the hair is transplanted in so-called grafts. These are units of hair bundles with 1 to 5 hairs that grow together on the scalp. These grafts are taken from an area of the scalp that is not easily visible and replanted in the bald area. The doctor uses a motorized hollow needle with a diameter of 0.7-1.0 mm. Since each graft has to be removed individually, this method is both time-consuming and costly. However, in my opinion it leads to a much better and more natural result. Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu has experience with this surgical technique and has been a specialist in this field for many years. It was therefore clear to me that I would choose the method that would ultimately convince me of the result. If I spend only half of the money for a hair transplant and I am still not satisfied in the end, this would also simply be wasted money. Go hard or go home – that was my motto. I had made the decision for the technique, now it was all about finding the right doctor and the right clinic. Enclosed I would like to describe the work of Dr. Sahinoglu 🙂 and my experiences with him as a surgeon. I would also like to explain briefly why a hair transplant in Turkey is cheaper, but not worse than in Germany or another EU country.

Hair Transplant Cost in Turkey: Why Does Turkey Have Better Price-Performance Ratio
The FUE technique is so expensive because it takes a lot of time. In Austria, Germany or Switzerland, the wage costs and ancillary wage costs are very high. Since the costs for the FUE technique are hardly affordable depending on the effort involved, people in these countries stick to the old FUT method – at least that was my experience. Of course you can find doctors in these countries who offer the FUE technique. My approach was therefore to look for a country where many specialists can be found, but who do not demand excessive costs. That is how I came up with the idea of looking for a hair transplant in Turkey.
I researched on the internet and repeatedly came across Dr. Sahinoglu as well as positive experiences that users made with him in blogs and forums. My interest was aroused. On the websites of German doctors the preferred (mostly FUT) technique is advertised and the other method is badly advertised. The main reason for the bad results like a reduced growth rate of the FUE-technique is that hardly any other doctor has the experience of Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu. In Istanbul, more than 36,000 hair transplants are performed annually with the FUE technique. If the results are really supposed to be so much worse, then surely this success would not come about? So, I concluded that the bad results of the FUE technique are due to the fact that the doctors here simply lack the experience, contrary to Dr. Sahinoglu or other Turkish doctors. All in all, you can save quite a bit of money.
First of all, Dr. Sahinoglu has experience with hair transplantation since 1996, so he has been caring for patients suffering from hair loss for over 20 years. To date, Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu has performed over 4000 hair transplants himself. Together with his team, he manages up to 4500 grafts per session. These are numbers that have convinced me.
After having seen some doctors in my area, I decided to take a short holiday in Istanbul, combining the pleasant with the useful. Since so many people reported about Dr. Sahinoglu on the internet and there was hardly anything negative to find about him, I wanted to have a closer look at this doctor and the clinic.
After initial research, I had already ruled out hair transplantation in Germany or Austria because I don’t have a money printing machine in my basement. So the plan was clear: A hair transplantation in Turkey should be the result. I wanted to see not only Dr. Sahinoglu, with whom so many have already had positive experiences, but also some other doctors. My plan was to visit a very cheap, medium-priced and a very expensive doctor and to get an appropriate impression. I chose the most expensive offer, but it was still only 1/3 of the cheapest offer in Austria.
The Trip to Turkey
I had taken the tips in some forums to heart and took an early flight and was met by a driver of the hotel. This allowed me to switch off completely and use the offers in the SPA area. Sauna, jacuzzi – I was deeply relaxed and could start the day of the surgery well recovered. Clemens picked me up in a good mood and drove me to the clinic.
First Day of the Procedure: 2000 Grafts
I already knew Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu – he was already waiting for me on 16.12.2015. Everything was as discussed. The hairline was drawn and then I got my hair shaved – a moment that took some getting used to, but I knew what to expect. At this point, I was greeted by the two nice assistants, who knew how to take away my last fear by their smiles and a few nice sayings.
My upper head was given a local anaesthetic and the hair was already being cut out. The result of 2 to 3 hairs per graft exceeded my expectations, as I already have thinning hair even in the removal area. So it already began promisingly. The initial nervousness was gone and I had no pain. I even managed to take a nap for two hours. During the first day of the operation, 2000 grafts were removed from my head and placed in my skull. I immediately saw a result and was overwhelmed. There were only 6 hours between my deep receding hairline and what was looking like a normal hairline. For this day it was time to say goodbye.
Second Day of the Procedure: 2000 Grafts More
Clemens picked me up from the hotel again and we had a little breakfast. We drank a hot coffee and enjoyed our company. Afterwards there were another 2000 grafts removed and transplanted, a little nap and a lot of fooling around with the nurses and voila – it was done.
First day after the hair transplant. The red crusts will fall off within two weeks.
Day 6: Back to Home and Normality
On the 6th day after the operation I got the announced facial swelling, but it was quickly brought under control with a few cool packs. I was even able to sit at my desk again for some time. I had hardly any pain and I still don‘t. If somebody asks me if it was worth it there is only one answer: I can only recommend the clinic of Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu. My experiences are positive throughout. I am admittedly a critical person but I have not found a single point of criticism even today. I would do everything again exactly the same.
Conclusion
I have won twice through my HT in Turkey: New hair on one hand, and a special love for the city of Istanbul on the other. There are excellent connections from Graz, which I now use regularly – no longer for a hair transplant, but for extensive sight-seeing. Travelling across the Bosphorus bridge between the continents, visiting the many bazaars or looking at the city lights at night – hair almost becomes a secondary matter.
Nevertheless, I would like to conclude with a few words about my hair situation. I was offered 4000 grafts in Turkey for 1/3 of the price, which was offered to me in Austria for 3000 grafts with the FUT-method, and I had a great holiday by the way. Every morning I still get a fright – in a positive sense – when I look in the mirror. Is that really me? My hair looks completely naturally grown and fortunately I don’t have a scar on the back of my head. Visually, there is no longer any indication that I have ever looked different. I really hope that this will last for a very long time. Therefore I take biotin tablets regularly and use a special shampoo. Otherwise there are hardly any restrictions. I can gel and blow-dry my hair or just leave it like that. Since I am single right now, I like going to bars and have gained new self-confidence.
I hope that my story about Dr. Kayihan Sahinoglu and my experiences with him will help many other users. There are many providers all over the world – I am convinced that I have found the needle in the haystack.
